Church Lineage with Selected Milestones

On March 12, 1968 Reverend Rubin L. Creel, acting on a vision from God, made a plea over KNDI radio program, “Gospel Music Time”, to meet at his home to organize a church.  Nine people answered his plea and thus, Trinity Missionary Baptist Church opened its doors on April 28, 1968.  The first worship service was held in two rented classrooms at Aiea Elementary School.

1968 - Rapid growth in membership required a larger facility.  Trinity was relocated to a Quonset hut at 63 Chicago Avenue in the Halawa housing area.

1970 - As a result of highway construction planning and continual growth in membership the hut had to be vacated.  For two years, service was held in a renovated theater in Aiea

1972 - Property was purchased in Pearl City.  However, due to city ordinances, the church was unable to build on the site.  Over the next five years Trinity worshipped in a tent located on the property.
